Television can be a fantastic tool or a terrible weapon, depending on how, when, and what you watch. Spending the entire day or evening in front of a Tv is nothing less than a wasted opportunity. Remember, time is money.
Let’s be open here: watching Tv is not an intrinsically wasteful thing to do. I’m not saying I don’t watch Tv; I do but not always. There are loads of engaging, relevant programs that render relief, entertainment, satisfaction, and education.
But, there are so many instances spending most of your time watching Tv could be detrimental to your health or social life. Spending a lot of time watching Tv can rob you of quality time with others and health-related instances like waist or back pains when sat for a very long time.
Imagine your favorite show pop up on the Tv when you are supposed to do something productive.
Most people think watching Tv is the only alternative when they’re stuck at home or the only replacement for a happy lifestyle.

1. Rethink your goals.
Goal and aspirations change as time passes. Therefore, it’s time you go back and rethink the goals you set for yourself and that bucket list you’ve created.
Analyze your progress to see how far you’re going with your plans, the things you need to include, and what needs to be done to make your goals come true. Doing this will help you stay focus and productive instead of watching Tv for several hours.
2. Read a book/magazine.
Are you bored with watching Tv? Get yourself a book. Not every reading worth it. But reading subjects related to your field of interest is the best thing to do. There are many books about entrepreneurship and how to start a business you should consider reading.
Reading books and magazines introduces you to new ideas and invites you to solve some problems. I am a big fan of the Amazon Kindle Ebook. Having it on my smartphone has helped me to tap into new ideas. Therefore, I’m encouraging you to read more books to get more ideas instead of watching Tv.
3. Do something outside your comfort zone.
Through stretching and pushing the boundaries, testing new ideas, taking risks, and embracing a change in your life every day is the key to a successful life. Don’t feel comfortable at home watching tv all day long; instead, you should take a bold step on your new endeavor, strategic planning and implementing, or even calling your partner out for a date if it’s something you’ve planned to do.
The reason is, when we step outside of our comfort zone, we’re taking a risk and opening ourselves up to the possibility of stress and anxiety; we’re not quite sure what will happen and how we’ll react. This activity is far worth it than starring at the Tv.
4. Tune in to your favorite music
Not always should you spend your whole life watching tv, but instead, you could turn on the light and tune in to your favorite music and boogie around the living room to release some stress.
You can have a fun moment with your family and have a healthy relationship instead of watching TV alone.
5. Listen to a podcast show or Audiobook.
Another productive thing to do instead of watching tv is to tune in to your favorite podcast show or listen to an audiobook if you don’t feel like reading.
Many podcasters on the internet create topics around entrepreneurship, productivity, motivation, relationship talks, or even entertainment.
Consider following some popular podcasters in your field to get more ideas.
And Audiobook is the audio version of a book.
It allows you to listen to the audio version of any book without spending time reading. I usually use this to cover a lot of chapters during my leisure time.
6. Learn to make extra money on the side.
If you have been following me for a while, you would have noticed that my focus is on how to teach people to make money online. I believe learning and taking action are the take to become successful in life.
Instead of watching tv, why not spend some time to learn business ideas that could make you money on the side? Since the outbreak of Covid-19, most people are now actively looking for ways and means to earn extra cash to pay their bills and make a living.
7. Learn new skills instead of watching Tv
Do you know that most people get all their knowledge online without even going into college? According to a survey reported at guides2research, about 52% of graduate students in the U.S. found their online college-level education to provide a better learning experience than their college-level classroom education.
Therefore, it is advisable to learn new skills online or from an expert in your community instead of watching TV. Consider taking a short course at Udemy, Teachable, WizIQ, Thinkific, and Skillshare.
8.Spend time to appreciate some people in your life
As life goes on, we may meet some people who would influence our lives in such a way that we can’t just be ungrateful. Why not appreciate their contributions to your life during the hours of watching TV?
You can write a thank you note to them or call them to show gratitude. I believe it’s worth the time doing so.

Either find a local yoga class or buy a DVD that allows you to practice at home. Once you learn some poses, you will even be able to do it independently without any guidance.

Swimming is an all-around activity that keeps the heart rate up and takes away some stress from our bodies. Whether you belong to the local pool or live near the water, going for a swim is a great way to exercise without putting too much pressure on your joints.

Another energetic thing to do instead of watching TV is going for a bike ride. When you ride a bike, you breathe deeper, sweat and experience increased body temperature, which will improve your overall fitness level.
