Robert Matthew Van Winkle, best known as Vanilla Ice, was born on October 31, 1967, in Dallas, Texas.

They gave it to a D.J. at a Georgia radio station to air the single “Play That Funky Music,” but the D.J. accidentally played “Ice Ice Baby.” The audience got traction for “Ice Ice Baby,” and it became a hit song.
This made Suge Knight furious and forced Vanilla Ice to sign the right over “Ice Ice Baby.” Van Winkle’s debut album “To the Extreme” is the fastest-selling hip-hop album of all time.
