On her education, she enrolled in three different schools. After graduating from elementary school, she enrolled at Kennedy High School before transferring to Holmes High School. She completed her high school education at McCollum High School and graduated in 1979.
She was registered with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. She worked for two other hospitals before she lost her interest in healthcare. Yolanda became the president of the Selena fan club. Saldivar was a fan of Tejano music.
After attending several of Selena Quintanilla, she approached Abraham, Selena’s father, and suggested that they should start a fan club for the singer. At first, Abraham was hesitant. However, he agreed to the proposal and even appointed her to be the president of the fan club.
After a few years, the fan club membership grew to more than 5000 members. Yolanda was promoted to become the manager of Selena’s clothing boutiques.

Selena arrived at the agreed location at around 1 pm and Yolanda arrived shortly after. After about half an hour, Selena realized that Yolanda had a gun. There was a short argument that led to a gunshot Yolanda shot Selena below the right shoulder.
Selena managed to escape the room and she rushed to the lobby, where she bled until the paramedics arrived. She was announced dead immediately after arriving at the hospital. After long 9 hours in a stand-off with the police, Yolanda was arrested.
