The 95th Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade will be distinctly different from last year’s restricted celebration because of our dear COVID-19.
Around 6,500 people will come together to work on this year’s parade, which will follow a 2.5-mile route through New York City, starting on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and ending in Midtown.
Please note that participants are expected to be vaccinated before taking part in the parade, but there is no vaccination requirement for spectators. Here’s what to expect in this year’s festivities before getting a ticket.
Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade Route 2022
It begins at West 77th Street and Central Park West in Manhattan. The parade will make its way south along 8th Avenue before turning down 59th Street at Columbus Circle. The remainder of the Thanksgiving Day Parade will travel south down 6th Avenue, ending at Macy’s Herald Square.

The 96th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held on November 24th, 2022, in New York City and will be shown to viewers live on NBC from 9 a.m. to 12 noon EST.
Who Is Hosting The Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade?
Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and Al Roker will host for NBC. Ana Jurka and Carlos Adyan will host for Telemundo, with Freddy Lomelà reporting live from Sixth Avenue. Miss Universe Andrea Meza will also make a guest appearance.
Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade Performers
Performers in the parade will include Jon Batiste, Kelly Rowland, Nelly, Mickey Guyton and Carrie Underwood. Ten high school and college marching bands will also fill the streets, including the Hampton University Marching Force.
Note that children under 12 will not be allowed to participate in the parade this year but will be permitted as spectators.
Some of the younger participants will include Ballet Hispánico’s School of Dance, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City and a group of competitive rope jumpers.
There will also be 15 giant balloons and 28 floats. Some of the balloons will be as high as four-story buildings or as broad as six taxicabs.

How To Get Tickets To The Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade
Unfortunately, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is not a publicly ticketed event. If there are tickets for prime viewing spots of the parade at Herald Square, they are usually given to friends and family of Macy’s employees, parade performers, and politicians.
It is possible, however, to view the parade for free along the 2.5 mile parade route. People usually line up starting at 6 a.m. at Central Park West, which is a prime viewing spot, to watch the parade on Thanksgiving Day.
How To Watch Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade 2022
NBC’s streaming service Peacock will live stream the parade starting at 9 a.m. Macy’s, NBCUniversal, and Verizon are teaming up to offer viewers a livestream through the streets of Manhattan, featuring personalized messages and co-viewing experiences.
