The Ho Airport in the Volta Region has seen an aircraft’s earliest landing on Thursday, April 15, 2021. The celebrated landing happened to be of an African-world Airlines test flight to give access to the airport’s commercial operations.
The first landing was observed by so many eyewitnesses, including the chiefs and other citizens of Ho and its suburbs.
In a video sighted by youths4success.com, the aircrew and passengers on the maiden are seen being welcomed by some chiefs upon landing.
There was much excitement among those present as the aircrew and passengers exchanged merriments with the welcome party.
Later photos show the pilot flying a white handkerchief after the safe landing, among other scenes.
Completed in 2017 by the John Mahama administration, the airport had not been in user for over three years.
In January 2021, Africa World Airlines (AWA), a private carrier, announced that it would start flights to the Ho Airport in April 2021 with two weekly Accra services.
In March 2021, the Minister of Transport announced that flights would commence on April 13, 2021, but this did not occur as reported.
