In a phone interview on the ‘Yen Sempa’ morning show on Onua FM, which took place on Friday 12, March, Oheneyere Gifty Anti, the Women’s rights advocate, bitterly expressed the heed of an emergency and a national pandemic that needs government attention.
The multiple award-winning broadcast journalist Oheneyere Gifty Anti has aggressively reprobated unfeelingness allotted out to women in marriage and other forms of relationships.
She is enraged at the dominance of abuse in marriage against women to the point that some spouses suffer deformity or death. Her comment comes after a business person in East Legon, and an officer of the Youth Empowerment Agency (YEA) in Akatsi alleged to have beaten their spouses to death.
“My thought on abuse against women in marriage is one too many; I mean one too many and to what extent that women would be subservient to assault and abuse.”
She stated that a country like Ghana would tolerate such clumsy behavior to suppress women in society. “To what extent would society view abuse against women as a challenge, so there is a need to find a solution to stop the threat.”
However, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GDA Media has asked the new sworn-in Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo to hold practical steps to address the situation.
She requests the ministry to engage the civil society groups to analyze the situation and take practical stratagems to cease all forms of abuse against women.
Again, the well-known motivational speaker has announced on women not to make marriage their final goal but to have the confidence in attaining their goals in life.
Therefore, she has urged media houses managers to outline shows on their multiple platforms to help intensify public education on abuse against women in society. Let all stand against women’s abuse in marriages.
